A tried and tested process
What Really Matters is our proprietary model for creating effective communications and strengthening connection with potential customers. It has been developed and refined over many years and has been used as the framework for all of our strategy projects.
A proprietary model at the heart of everything we do
Our strategy process is designed as a series of powerful, purpose-driven modules that guide companies from insight to impact. We start by uncovering the foundations - your heritage, your products, your customers, and the competitive landscape - building a deep understanding of where you’ve come from and where you stand.
From there, we help you connect to your target market by defining your personality, values, and key messages, shaping a voice that resonates authentically with your audience.
Finally, we move to conversion - crafting a clear, differentiated positioning and the raison d’etre that drives loyalty and growth.
It’s a process rooted in clarity, focus and purpose - what we call What Really Matters.

Understand
The first stage of the process is to develop a comprehensive understanding of the factors that shape your business and industry. We start by examining your heritage and back story; why and how did the business begin, how has it grown, and what were the challenges along the way? This helps us build a narrative that provides a stable foundation for all the later elements. We also look in detail at your competition, your customers, and, of course, the product or service you deliver.

Connect
With the understanding we've gained, we can begin to create a communication platform that will help us develop close connections with our target audience. This includes defining the key sales messages that will resonate, and framing them in the core business values, personality and tone of voice that our customers will respond to.

Convert
The final part of the process is all about turning customers into fans. It involves creating a clear point of difference from your competitors and defining the core business purpose from the customer's perspective. This will create a stronger bond and a loyal customer base that goes beyond a pure transactional level and becomes deeper and more meaningful.
At the core of all this is crafting the What Really Matters manifesto for your business; this is the rallying point or fuel that drives you forward.

At the end of the process, we create a manifesto or DNA document. It doesn't matter what you call it. And it could be a printed booklet, a PowerPoint presentation, a poster or a screensaver. What's important is that it becomes the roadmap and point of reference for your whole company to create cohesive and compelling communications that will really connect with your audience. But things change - your competitors, your services, and your customers. So, it's not a static monolith; it needs reviewing and updating to stay relevant - we usually suggest at least once a year.
